Panther Chameleon (Furcifer pardalis)
Vibrant, expressive, and one of nature’s true showstoppers!
Known for their incredible color-changing ability and striking appearance, Panther Chameleons are one of the most sought-after reptiles in the hobby. Native to Madagascar, these stunning lizards are full of personality and can display brilliant shades of red, blue, green, orange, and yellow—depending on mood, temperature, and locality.
Quick Facts:
Size: Males 14–20 inches, females slightly smaller
Lifespan: 5–7 years with proper care
Temperament: Generally calm but best observed, not handled frequently
Experience Level: Intermediate to advanced
Care & Habitat:
Panther Chameleons thrive in a tall, well-ventilated enclosure (minimum 24” x 24” x 48” for adults). Vertical space is a must for climbing, along with plenty of live or artificial plants and vines. They require a UVB light source, a basking spot around 85–90°F, and daytime temps in the high 70s to low 80s. Nighttime temperatures can drop into the low 70s. Keep humidity around 50–70% with regular misting or a drip system for hydration.
Feeding:
These insectivores love a varied diet of crickets, dubia roaches, silkworms, and other feeder insects. Supplements like calcium and multivitamins are essential to prevent deficiencies.
Fun Fact:
Panther Chameleons don’t just change color for camouflage—they also use it to communicate mood, attract mates, or show dominance!

Why You’ll Love Them:
Panther Chameleons are truly living art—each one is unique in color and pattern. While they prefer a hands-off lifestyle, their slow, deliberate movements, independently moving eyes, and dynamic color shifts make them endlessly entertaining to watch.
