Description
Tapinauchenius plumipes (Mahogany Tree Spider)
CURRENT SIZE 2"
"Taps" or "Tappies" are arboreal tarantulas known for their speed. In fact, most experienced keepers would consider them the swiftest of all tarantulas. Adult at three to four inches in legspan, Taps are fairly uniform in color, but have a shiny iridescence and metallic appearance. They have a somewhat elongated abdomen with anterior dimples. Spiderlings require careful attention to moisture levels. They require very high humidity, but ventilation is also critical and stagnant conditions must be avoided. The Violet Tree Spider is a brilliant shade of rich violet-purple and is a beautiful candidate for a tall moderately-sized tropical rainforest terrarium.
