Description
Togo Starburst Baboon (Heteroscodra maculata)
CURRENT SIZE 1"
This arboreal spider is similar in appearance to another popular tree tarantula from Ghana, the Ornamental Baboon (Heteroscodra maculata). However, it has a more slender build and an often orangish-brown color accentuated by long pinkish-red hairs. Its common name refers to the long, feathery hairs (or setae) found on its tarsi, or last two segments of the legs, which create brushy pads that make it an agile climber. It is a very defensive species, but is a very popular terrarium pet.
