The Exo Terra Monsoon SOLO II is a programmable misting system suitable for all types of terrariums and greenhouses.

It helps maintain optimal humidity by generating a fine mist at programmed intervals, the duration and frequency of which can be easily adjusted depending on the type of animal or plant housed. Frequent misting helps stimulate breeding behaviour, and is a necessity when housing live tropical plants such as Bromeliads, orchids, mosses, etc.

The system can be programmed to mist multiple times per 24-hour cycle, with spray durations ranging from 2 seconds up to 2 minutes. The 1,5 liter (0.40 gallon) reservoir ensures continuous operation for several days without the need for refilling (ideal for vacations!), and the reservoir can be easily replenished without needing to uninstall the entire system.

Exo Terra Reptile Den – Large

The Reptile Den allows easy observation of reptiles and amphibians while in their hiding and sleeping spot without opening the terrarium and disturbing the animals. Digging out animals by removing the substrate and terrarium decoration is an underestimated stress factor that now is completely eliminated.

The rock-cover can be removed from outside the tank to observe the hiding and sleeping animals and placed back on the glass. The two pieces are kept together through the glass by strong magnets.

The rock is insulated to keep the tunnel system cooler than the ambient temperature inside the terrarium. Some moistened moss or substrate can be placed inside the Reptile Den to keep it moist.

3 Ways to use Sub Stratum :

When Exo Terra’s Sub Stratum is used as the sole substrate, add a layer of 2,5 – 5 cm (1 – 2 in) to the terrarium. The live bacteria will activate when the substrate comes in contact with water or waste. The organic matter such as left over food and animal waste will decompose over time. The absorbing properties of volcanic ash will eliminate odours by trapping the decomposed materials. Rinse the Sub Stratum and replace partly every 12 months.

Drainage Layer

Add a top layer of biological substrate to the Exo Terra’s Sub Stratum layer for optimal bioactivity and drainage. Plants can be secured in the top layer (eg. Exo Terra’s Plantation Soil) while their roots will thrive in the sub layer of Sub Stratum – resulting in optimal growth.

Additionally, an inorganic layer can be added first for even better drainage (Exo Terra’s BioDrain) to allow excess water to flow through the substrate to avoid saturation and anaerobic bacteria to outcompete the beneficial bacteria in the Sub Stratum substrate. Use the BioDrain Mesh to separate the BioDrain layer from organic matter to penetrate the underlying layer.

Use a top layer of leaf litter to provide dry areas, shelter and dwelling surfaces for all organisms in the terrarium. In the meantime it will prevent evaporation of the underlying layers.

Mixed-in

The secret to growing healthy plants begins with the soil. Naturally, healthy soil contains living microorganisms — from bacteria to fungi, protozoa and arthropods. Together they form a choreographed exchange from the recycling of nutrients to the decomposition of organic materials.

By mixing the Sub Stratum with other organic substrates, you enrich any substrate with the required minerals like calcium, nitrogen, potassium and phosphorus. It also aids in the water retention capacity and provide adequate air supply to the roots.

Only use tap water treated with Aquatize (PT1979) in bioactive planted terrariums to remove heavy metals, chlorine, and chloramines.

The regular use of Turtle Clean (PT1998 or PT1999) to add extra beneficial organisms to the terrarium water will support the biological filtration capabilities.

Reptiles are ectothermic and use heat from an external source to thermoregulate their optimal body temperature. Most reptiles use direct radiant heat from the sun in combination with conductive heat from sun-heated surfaces such as branches, rocks or other heat accumulating structures.

Providing such an appropriate, species related, temperature gradient in the terrarium is an important factor in successful reptile keeping. With the Exo Terra 300 W Electronic ON/OFF Thermostat you can create a well controlled heating system that allows you to maintain the required temperature conditions similar to those found in a desert or tropical environment. The Thermostat will also help to prevent overheating and under-cooling during hot summer days or cold winter nights.

The electronic Triac switch keeps the temperature at the desired set point with a much higher accuracy compared to conventional thermostats and virtually eliminates temperature swings in the terrarium.

Simply connect your Heat Mat, Heat Cable or Ceramic Heater to the Exo Terra ON/OFF Thermostat, set the preferred temperature and place the heat sensor in the desired spot. The Red LED heat indicator will light up when the heating device is ON and will shut off once the desired temperature has been reached.

The recessed dial of the thermostat will prevent accidental temperature change if the device is being handled. The waterproof remote sensor can be safely used in highly moist terrariums and aquatic environments.

The Exo Terra Thermostat should be set according to the needs of the animals. Thoroughly research the preferred optimum temperature range (POTR) for your specific reptile, so you can create the correct temperature gradients inside the terrarium to allow your reptiles to thermoregulate.
